The Number Ones is a compilation album of hits by The Beatles released in 1983 by EMI on the Parlophone Records label in Australia. It is a localised version of the 1982 compilation album 20 Greatest Hits. To reflect Australia's differing tastes, EMI Australia issued its own version of 20 Greatest Hits. As The Beatles had 23 number ones in Australia, the title was aptly changed to The Number Ones. However not all tracks would fit into a standard vinyl LP, so three tracks. The sources are the Record Mirror chart from 1956 to the end of 1958, the Melody Maker chart from November 1958 to March 1960, the Record Retailer chart from March 1960 to March 1972 and the Music Week chart from then onwards. In January 1989 the compilation album chart started, and compilation albums were excluded from the main chart. A new track, I Hate Everything, was also included and became his 51st overall number one in 2004. The figure of 50 Number Ones includes not just songs that reached the top of the Billboard Hot Country Songs chart but also those that topped the Radio & Records. Released on both LP and cassette, it is an alternative version of the album titled 20 Greatest Hits in most of the world. Due to timing problems, EMI included a three-track bonus EP A-980, with the 20-track LP. The cassette version contains all 23 tracks as cassettes do not have the length limitations which LPs have. McCartney wrote Let It Be when the Beatles were working on their White Album, and it took a while to get the song out into the world. The album that became Let It Be was originally supposed to be Get Back, an LP of songs that the band had rehearsed in-studio and then performed, for the first time, in front of a live audience. But the rehearsals were hard on the band, and they ended up giving up the idea. The band recorded those songs, but then they went off and made Abbey Road. Artist:The Number Ones. This is an excellent compilation of all the number 1 hits by the fab four. I think they should have included Strawberry Fields, but they have their own definition of a number 1 hit, and we probably have most of these in our LP collections anyway, but it is great to listen to the tracks in the chronological order and experience the development of their musical journey. real magical mystery tour . This second collection, Number Ones, was released in the wake of the 2000 blockbuster Beatles 1, which rewrote the rules of modern-day hits collections from major artists, since it not only contained a generous, representative cross section of hits, it had a specific focus and did gangbuster business. An avalanche of similar-minded compilations by other titans followed, notably Elvis' 30 1 Hits and the Rolling Stones' Forty Licks, and MJ's Number Ones is part of that wave
