They sometimes look like paintings, but they are actually touched up photographs, many of which started as promotional photos. Early examples such as 5321 and 5323 below still looked a lot like photos, but as time went on, they began looking more and more like oil paintings. Gerry Mulligan wrote the tune 'Utter Chaos', which was one of the selections played live on the album 'The Teddy Wilson Trio & Gerry Mulligan Quartet with Bob Brookmeyer at Newport', a live album recorded at the Newport Jazz Festival in 1957 and released on the Verve label. Mulligan also recorded a version with trumpeter Chet Baker for Blue Note. The great Chet Baker played with jazz legends such as Charlie Parker and Gerry Mulligan and forged a career as one of the most important jazz stars of the 20th century. Album 1963 Cool Jazz. Apparently tenor saxophonist Bill Robinson appears on the album cover, but is nowhere to be found on the record itself. Also, a Bob Gibson, who is supposedly the drummer, does not show on any other jazz records anywhere and was probably a drummer who could not use his real name, either for contractual reasons or just plain shame. Certainly the great Gerry Mulligan has much better records out there than The Great Gerry Mulligan , but this LP isnt that bad either. Historically Speaking Gerry Mulligan album. Redirected from Mulligan Plays Mulligan. Historically Speaking is a reissue of an August 27, 1951 recording by baritone saxophonist Gerry Mulligan that was released as Prestige 7251. The album was originally reissued on 12 inch Lp as Mulligan Plays Mulligan on Prestige Lp 7006 after originally being released on 10 inch Lps in 1951. Funhouse 3:12. Ide's Side 3:19. Roundhouse 3:32.
